Bridge was captured on Tyne Green, Hexham, in 2021
During the pandemic there were two very memorable periods of heavy snow. One was surprisingly late in the year, and one slightly less so. The latter started with a warning shot - a good spread overnight that, the following day, hung around on the grass and hedges of Hexham and acted as an underlay for the several inches that would come the following evening. On roads and pavements, boat launches and rivers however, the first fall disappeared and the mix of temperatures and water vapours and whatever other contributing factors are needed, conspired to form a beautifully haunting fog that squatted over the Tyne Valley, right down to the river itself. Bridge was captured in the early evening, just as the street lights pinged on across old Hexham Bridge.
