On the road that traces the western outline of Ullswater in The Lake District, there is a layby. It is small, but enough for three or four cars. Just next to the layby, there is a well-worn trail down onto a rocky bay, and when the lake is low, you can walk through some trees, across the rocks, to the waters edge, and enjoy a wonderful view down Patterdale. It’s a lovely spot to spend a moment and to see what elements are at play down the valley.
Sketch was shortlisted in the Black and White Category of the 2017 British Photography Awards
