Veer was captured on a descent of Helvellyn, looking down towards Thirlmere and all the way to Derwentwater and Skiddaw. The day had been quite grim at sea level in the morning, but what seemed like a solid ceiling of cloud at around 500 feet turned out to be a gateway to Narnia, and the last stretch up to the top of Helvellyn was like walking in a winter wonderland. When heading back down to the car, just nearing the edge of the snow clouds, the evening light started to colour the scene below.
