Scoop

Scoop was captured on a long hike from Honister Slate Mine in the Lake District to Pillar.

Scoop
from £18.00

A relatively short walk with undeniably stunning Lake District views, is a roughly 60 minute trek from Honister Slate Mine car park between the Borrowdale Valley and Buttermere. After a quick and very steep ascent up rough stone steps onto a track that heads up towards the top of Fleetwith Pike and the working slate mine there, the scene to your left opens up. Another path leads off this way and before too long you are stood at a point where it can seem half of the National Park is before you. Pillar, Ennerdale, Haystacks, Buttermere, Crummock Water, Hindscarth, Fleetwith Pike - a stunning panorama to rival any in the UK, and captured in another image on this site - Roll.

Scoop was taken a little further along the path, just below Great Gable on the way up to Pillar. It’s a panorama stitch of three portrait images so as to achieve as much detail and compressed perspective as possible.

‘Scoop’ can be purchased here as a fine art giclee print. More information on sizing options, production process and shipping is available lower down this page.

Scoop is a panorama from below the peak of Great Gable, looking down towards the Ennerdale valley. It is a stitch of three portrait orientation images.

The walk from Honister to Pillar takes in many of the greatest hits of the Lake District in one long day. From views looking out towards Buttermere and Crummock Water, passing Haystacks and seeing Ennerdale coming into view, skirting Great Gable with detours up Green Gable or Kirk Fell if you like, and then the final push up to Pillar and the views across to the west that await.

A close up of fine art giclee photographic print paper
  • All prints ordered through The Wynd Photographic are fine art prints. That is to say, they are produced using the giclee process in combination with a smooth, archival, 300gsm cotton based paper by Fotospeed.

  • Once a print has been ordered, it is either produced by Pete in his own workshop or, if scale dictates, via an independent local print house he collaborates with regularly. Pete oversees all printing before performing quality checks, adding his signature, and packaging the finished work at the Wynd Gallery.

  • Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee a set turnaround time for an online order. Each client and order is slightly different and may require a particular approach to production. Wherever possible, we aim to complete and dispatch orders within 7 days of them being received.

If you have specific requirements or a specific date that you need to have your order by, please get in touch via the contact page before you make your purchase. If you let us know the image name, the size you’re interested in, a rough location for delivery, and what date you need the order for, we’ll be able to let you know quite quickly whether there will be any problems.

  • As with all images available at The Wynd, Scoop is available in any size that doesn’t compromise the composition. You’ll find a range of commonly requested sizes available by using the dropdown menu above. If you are interested in a size or a crop that isn’t available on the dropdown, just get in touch via the contact page with your requirements and Pete will happily provide a quote.
